Formed in October 2009, Monks of Mellonwah (MOM) are an award winning, four-piece Alternative Rock band based in Sydney, Australia. Since conception MOM have catapulted quickly to success on a global scale that has seen them touring nationally and internationally, receiving multiple syncs to popular TV shows as well as winning awards for ‘International Rock Band Of The Year’ (LA Music Awards 2012) and ‘Best Indie Rock Band’(AIM Awards 2012).
Consisting of lead vocalist Vikram, guitarist Joseph de la Hoyde, drummer Joshua Baissari and bassist John de la Hoyde, MOM represent a creative collision of musical personalities, creating a timeless and inimitable fusion of alternative, indie and film inspired rock.
Since its release, Turn The People has been critically acclaimed, leading to worldwide radio play, as well as over 100 press reviews in both print and online media, including The Huffington Post, Music Connectiona Magazine, Pop Matters, Technorati and I Am Entertainment Magazine. First single’Ghost Stories’ has received ongoing support from commercial mainstream rock stations in the USA and is currently charting at 60 and 65 on BDS Mainstream and Mediabase Active Rock Charts respectively. The album has also enjoyed growing support through US college and taste-maker radio such as Sat Bisla’s show ‘Passport Approved’ With national and international tours already under their belt including performances at iconic venues such as The Avalon Theatre, Whiskey A Go Go, Mercury Lounge in the U.S.A, Oxford Art Factory, The Metro and Factory Theatres in Australia as well as showcases at Music Matters in Singapore, MOM are currently gearing up for extensive touring through the USA in the summer of 2014. This will include a 2 week commercial radio sponsored US Radio Tour of California as a part of the ‘Passport Approved Live Tour’ before traveling to all parts of the USA over a 2-3 month period.
